Two former Speakers of Imo House of Assembly, Rt Hons Godwin Dikeocha and Kelechi Nwagwu have slammed Hon Chidi Ibe for allowing the Media to address him as a former Speaker of Imo House of Assembly without clearing the air on the actual truth.

Speaking separately to the Media, Rt Hons Godwin Dikeocha and Kelechi Nwagwu said that it was wrong for the Media to continue to mislead the general public by addressing Hon Ike Ibe as a former Speaker, when the truth is that he never was.

This latest scenario arose from a recent interview Hon Ibe, granted to some Media Houses, including TRUMPETA where he was addressed as former Speaker

According to Nwagwu who was Speaker during the Governor Achike Udenwa era “Ike Ibe was never Speaker of Imo House of Assembly. He can be anything he aspires to be. I wonder why this falsity in this period of electioneering. It is wrong to mislead the general public” he said.

Also adding his voice, Hon Dikeocha who also was Speaker during that same administration maintained that Ibe was never Speaker.

“Even though I acknowledge that Hon Ike Ibe is a good man and can make a good Governor if elected, but it does not do his image any good to falsely claim he was a Speaker of Imo House of Assembly” Dikeocha said.

He continued “He was not and never sat as one as I personally witnessed the incident he claims produced him as Speaker. He and his Group tried to remove Rt Hon Maxwell Duru who was Speaker throughout the botched IBB Transition regime with late Chief Evan Enwerem as Governor of Imo State”

The Aboh Mbaise born former Lawmaker continued “Where are the votes and proceedings that produced him as Speaker? Where is his picture in the former Speakers Gallery at the House of Assembly complex till date?” Dikeocha querried.

Meanwhile, attempts by Trumpeta to hear from Chief Ibe on the matter was frustrated by bad network.

However, a source close to the Obowo born former Legislator and APGA Guber hopeful in Imo State for 2019, asked if it was Ibe that asked that he be addressed as former Speaker, or was it from the writer?.
