Residents of Amakohia and Akwakuma in Owerri North LGA Imo state have raised alarm over devastating erosion caused by uncompleted road projects going on in the Area.

The worst hit is the Orlu road junction, by Egbeada round – about, which is nearly cut – off by the erosion by the uncompleted fly – over started by the Ikedi Ohakim administration, but abandoned by the Owelle Okorocha government.

Residents who spoke to Imo Trumpeta lamented that the roads and the houses in the area would soon be washed away, if nothing is done to curb the menace, before the heavy raining season sets in.

The Residents also complained that, while they appreciate the road projects going on in the area initiated by the Okorocha Government, the problem facing them now is that the contractors handling the projects dug gutters across entrances to the houses and left them open for months now, thereby causing car owners to abandon their vehicles kilometres away and trek home on foot.

“Please, we like what the Government is doing but these contractors should finish the gutters and put culverts across them so that people can park their vehicles in their premises.

We are suffering here, and at the risk of losing our vehicles to thieves” Mr Anslem Opara, a resident of SPIBAT Roadtold Imo Trumpeta.

Another Tenant, Chief Boniface Onye told Imo Tumpeta to call on Imo State Government to complete the fly – Over started by Ohakim administration, as it will not only curb the erosion going  -on on the road, but will also reduce traffic congestion in the State.

“Government is a Continuity.  We appeal to Owelle Okorocha to complete these fly – overs.  We know they were started by Ohakim, but the man has gone, but these roads belong to Imo people” Chief        Onye told Imo Trumpeta
