\nMembers of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) have taken turns in eulogizing the late Anti-apartheid crusader and the first black of president South-Africa, Nelson Mandela (Madiba).
\nIn a motion moved by the member representing Isiala Mbano state constituency, Hon. Simeon Uchenna Iwunze (Whiteman), during plenary on Tuesday, 10th December 2013, he prayed that the house observe a minute silence in honour of the departed leader and a letter of condolence sent to the kwanten parliament in South African by the Imo State Hose of Assembly because of the bilateral relationship established between the two legislative bodies during their visit to South Africa last year.
\nHon Iwunze pointed out that Mandela did not only fight for South Africans, but the entire continent and noting that despite his position, he was not interested in occupying political position but was only interested in liberating his people.
\nSupporting the motion moved by Hon. Iwunze, the members representing Ehime Mbano and Oru East State constituencies, Hon Kingsley Dimaku and Greg Okemiri noted that Mandela was an agent of change which every Africa must emulate. Hon Okemiri noted that Mandela, with his exalted position, did not amass wealth for himself or his children.
\nAlso speaking, the member representing Mbaitoli state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Victor C. Ndunagu said that the late former South Africa President should be regarded as a super icon whose legacies will remain indelible in the sands of time.
\nMeanwhile, the house could not seat for plenary yesterday, 11th December 2013 due to poor attendance of house members as those present could not form quorum.
\nThe Deputy Speaker of the house, Hon Donatus Ozoemena who presided over the plenary informed the house that members that approved road contracts for contractors on Monday have gone out for over sight function to ensure that contractors carry out their assignments at their constituents to ensure good and accessible roads this festive period. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
