CGC, Artisans\/Traders Cup gets new Final Date
\nThe final for the ongoing maiden edition of the CGC Football Competition and the Artisans\/Traders Cup which is in its second edition has been moved to the month of October instead of the originally slated May 29 as it was last year.
\nAccording to a release from the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, ex-international Sunny Opara the final of the two soccer tournaments designed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to foster peace and unity among the Communities in Imo State and among the Artisans and Traders as well as to help fish out more footballing talents among many other social and human developmental strides has been moved to October by the donor and sponsor, His Excellency the Executive Governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
\nAlthough reasons for the postponement was not made available to Trumpeta Sports desk but they are strong indications that His Excellency who was highly delighted after the huge success recorded during the grand finale of last year’s Artisans\/Traders Cup were the likes of Ruff Coin Nwaba and Flavor trilled the large crowed that witnessed the epic event.
\nRumors also has it that since the political campaign program is around the corner the governor would probably want a befitting grand finale as a perfect way to kick-start his campaign programs as the good feelings will be fresh in the mind of imolites.
\nAs a result of the postponement, the remaining games of the two tournaments have also been adjusted by the LOC members for proper monitoring as the semi-finals of the CGC cup has been moved to August while the remaining group knock-out games in the Artisans\/Traders cup will resume next month.<\/p>\n

\nWorld Cup Semi-Finals
\nThe Lille shot-stopper is optimistic about the African champions’ chances at this summer’s tournament in Brazil. Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is brimming with confidence ahead of this summer’s World Cup and believes Stephen Keshi’s men have what it takes to reach the semi-finals.
\nThe reigning African champions have never made it past the round of 16 on the four previous occasions that they qualified for the final, but the Lille goalkeeper has little doubt they can cause a surprise this time around.
\n“I think we are going to make big progress,” Enyeama told reporters.
\n“We are focused on the World Cup, to make Africa the proudest continent.
\n“Ghana almost reached the semi-finals four years ago. We are going to achieve a better result and be the first African team to get to the semi-finals of the World Cup.”
\nNigeria will possibly meet France in the first round of the knockout stages, but the Lille goalkeeper is not thinking about taking on the country where he’s been plying his trade since 2011.
\n“If we play against France, it will be interesting, but if we play against Switzerland, it will also be interesting. The important thing is to qualify.
\n“Playing France for a place in the last eight is not really what matters to me right now, I just want the team to make it to the second round.
\n“But maybe we will come out first, and then we will not have to play against France.”
