\nAs controversy continues to trail all parts of Imo State on the political power shifting otherwise called \u201ccharter of equity\u201d among the three zones of the state, one of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Chieftains, Chief Cyirl I. Duruaku has disclosed that APGA had earlier aligned to the zoning system in Imo State.
\nBriefing newsmen on Tuesday in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, Chief Duruaku who is the leader of APGA Unity Forum hinted that the party will not accept any guber candidate from Okigwe and Orlu zones precisely, but however revealed that all APGA guber aspirants should be indigenes of Owerri zone.
\n\u201cImo charter of equity is an affair of political parties. Udenwa failed PDP primary election in 1999, but became the governor due to the fact that concerned citizens of Imo State wanted to rationalize the governorship seat by allowing Orlu zone which had never produce Imo governor as at that time to enjoy the number one seat in the state. So, Orlu has gone twice, Okigwe also twice and Owerri is only once.
\nI think this is the right time for Owerri zone to produce the state governor.
\nThough, we are working tireless to reconcile all the factions in APGA. As the leader of APGA Unity Forum, we have put mercenaries in motion that would bring together both Max Okwu and Chief Victor Umeh groups. \u201cWe will regain Imo Douglas House in 2015. APGA has zoned its governorship position in Imo State to Owerri zone\u201d, the party chieftain explained.
\nAnswering questions on the recent rumour making the round in the state that the serving Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has cross carpeted to APGA, Chief Duruaku confirmed the statement noting that it will be hard for Gov. Okorocha to re-join APGA as the party Ambassadors (owners) will not avail him the opportunity to come back to the party.
\nThe party chieftain earlier described APC as \u201cAmajiri People Congress\u201d nothing that Governor Okorocha will not remain in one political party as he had tasted all the existing parties in Nigeria, he urged the public to continue maintaining their good posture as the APGA leadership would not leave any stone unturned by checkmating Governor Okorocha’s movement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
