\nThe seeming power tussle between Imo State Finance Commissioner, Deacon Chike Okafor and the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu over who controls Okigwe zone keeps manifesting daily.
\nBoth men from Okigwe zone (Imo North) are said to be locked in serious cold war concerning several issues but not limited to power struggle for who controls Rescue Mission APC structure in the zone. Information revealed that the differences between them deepens daily and has sparked a lot of controversies among APC faithful in Okigwe zone.
\nThe finance commissioner who hails from Obowo Local Government Area and said to be packed with megabucks is reported to be wielding a lot of powers in Okorocha’s cabinet and this according to sources has pushed him to mistake it for controlling the APC structure in Obowo and other parts of Okigwe zone including Uwajumogu’s Ihitte\/Uboma LGA.
\nOkafor is reported to have began his conquest in the move to have the zone to impose one of his relations in Ihite Uboma as APC flagbearer for the 2015 State House Assembly Election. The alleged plot was said to have escalated the problem since such move is against the Speaker’s wish and challenges his position as undisputed highest political office holder and apex leader.
\nSpeaker Uwajumogu who is legitimately seen as the Apex leader of Okigwe zone as we learnt is confused and has recently said to have complained on the activities of Deacon Chike Okafor, especially in his attempt to overshadow everybody including Governor Rochas Okorocha, the captain of the Rescue Mission in the state.
\nThe last straw that broke the camel’s back was the alleged hijack of the 2014 August meeting show held at Obowo for Okigwe zone.
\nCommissioner Chike Okafor was accused by some opinion leaders in Okigwe zone to have hijacked the 2014 August meeting graced by the Imo Governor’s A close source from the speakers camp revealed that the speaker who is seen as a silent achiever donated two out the three buses that was slated for the various prizes.
\nApart from the donation of buss, speaker and his wife, Helen Uwajumogu brought so many cooling vans and sponsored all the drinks and food taking in Okigwe zone’s August meeting, while the glory went to Chike Okafor who was the defacto Chief host of the event. The choice of Obowo could have stopped many Okigwe zone people from gracing the occasion especially those of Okigwe North Federal Constituency, (Isiala Mbano, Onuimo, and Okigwe) who felt such occasion is for Okigwe LGA, the zonal headquarters. Feelers from speaker’s camp said that the Obowo venue also angered Uwajumogu who felt diminished by Okafor’s overbearing influence in Rescue Mission government.
