A young and good-spirited indigene of Owere-nshi-ise, Tony Ihekire (Onye Eke) has expressed his desire and commitment towards ensuring that youths of Owere-nshi-ise are given necessary upliftment in their lives especially through sports.
\nThe Lagos based successful businessman who recently donated sports wears to all the five villages that make up Owere-nshi-ise: Umuodu, Umuonyeche, Amawom, Umuororonjo and Umuoyima informed Trumpeta Sports desk that Owere youths are naturally endowed with special skills including sports saying that it is their responsibility to ensure that youths are encouraged to actualize their dream by providing the support and materials that can enable them reach their goal.
\nIhekire who spoke through his coordinator Emma Ugochukwu, explained that government cannot do everything for the people urging spirited individuals and organizations to also join hands in the uplifting of youths.
\nEmma who also played football with Eyimba International of Aba told Trumpeta that each of the five villages received a set of football jersey with stockings and two match balls to enable them execute their training sessions for this year\u2019s Xmas football competition.<\/p>\n

Imo Referees Elect New Council Excos

Saturday November 29 will certainly begin a new chapter of leadership in the life of Imo referees as they go to the polls to elect new officers that will pilot the affairs of the council for the next four years.
\nThe election which is slated for the Dan Anyiam Stadium will see three senior retired referees, Sir Amos Agwamba (Incumbent Chairman), Chief Emeka Nwokorie (former Vice Chairman) and Sir Success Anyanwu (former Deputy Chairman) go head to head over who becomes the Imo Referees Council Chairman.
\nAside the post of Chairman, other positions will also be up for grabs as more than 20 referees active and retired will jostle for positions such as 1st and 2nd Vice Chairman and the Deputy Chairman.
\nOther positions that will be up for grabs include, the office of the Secretary and his assistant, the Training officer and his assistant, Treasurer, PRO, Welfare, Financial Secretary, etc.
\nIt would be recalled that the incumbent chairman, Sir Agwamba who hails from Ikeduru took over from Mr. Santos Mba (Owerri Municipal) and will face oppositions from Mbaise and Obowo LGAs respectively.
\nAlthough the electorates have their mind made up on who they want to cast their votes for, what should be paramount to the course and wish of Imo referees is to elect a leader that will consolidate on the gains achieved by the past chairmen and exco members and one that can liberate the state referees from the gross marginalisation at the national level where Imo registers the highest number of referees yearly both in the exams and during the physical fitness test but get fewer number of match appointments and has a small number of elite referees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
