The war of supremacy raging between two major camps of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter, shifts to Abuja, as the PDP holds its National Convention on December 9, 2019.<\/p>\n

Trumpeta<\/em> learnt that in the zoning formula of the PDP in the sharing of its National positions, Imo State was given the chance to produce the candidate who fills the Deputy National Financial Secretary slot.<\/p>\n

Following this development, two prominent sons of Imo State, namely Hon Gerald Ironna and Chief Regis Ifeanyi Uwakwe have thrown their Hats into the ring for this position.<\/p>\n

Both men have since commenced campaign for the seat, which is been keenly contested. Chief Regis Uwakwe hails from Ehime Mbano LGA, Imo State, and is an old politician who has contested the office of House of Representatives before.<\/p>\n

He has held various political positions at both zonal and National levels, which many say is his added advantage.<\/p>\n

Uwakwe who was the immediate past Auditor, Southeast Zone of PDP is said to have experience in party financial management.<\/p>\n

In his mission statement, Uwakwe said \u201cI shall assist the National Financial Secretary to undertake strict supervision of budgeting, budgetary and financial reporting\u201d<\/p>\n

He pledged in \u201ccollecting and keeping records of all dues, levies, subscriptions and donations paid to the party\u201d<\/p>\n

The other Aspirant, Hon Gerald Ironna was a former Chairman of Oguta LGA, a former member of Imo House of Assembly for Oguta Constituency, and immediate past member of House of Representatives for Oguta\/ Ohaji\/ Egbema\/Oru West in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Ironna has vowed to exhibit transparency in the management of PDP funds, and promised not to let Imo State down, as the person representing the State at the PDP National Working Committee NWC.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, political pundits predict that the battle for the position would be fierce following the two political camps both Aspirants are coming from.<\/p>\n

This Newspaper learnt that while Uwakwe emanated from the Senator Hope Uzodinma camp, Ironna is from the Ihedioha Group.<\/p>\n
