Worried by current hardship experienced in Imo State as a result of the nation\u2019s dwindling economy, a renowned technocrat, Hon. Daves Anorue has spoken on the reason behind his decision to run for the Mbaitoli\/Ikeduru Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Speaking with newsmen at the Art Noveau Event Centre prior to a crucial meeting organized by the Greater Imo Assembly, Hon Anorue said the current trend of the Imo economy as well as that of the nation influenced his decision to vie for the legislative seat, adding that the meeting became important owing to the fact that basic issues surrounding the governed have been left unaddressed.<\/p>\n

Hon. Anorue said, \u201cThings are not right in my constituency, people do not even know their representatives. It is high time we create an enabling environment for people to interact with legislators. \u201cYou are in the air and nobody knows you, it is quiet absurd\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Hon Anorue stressed the need for grassroot policies, noting that the institution of corporative societies for the younger ones in developing countries is far more productive than building mansions. He also stated that farm settlements and Agricultural policies have gone a long way in re-invigorating the world economies, adding that such policies would remain his primary aim.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you look around you, you will discover that the State lack necessary infrastructure, the roads in my constituency are bad and our youths experience hardship day after day. Youths must be empowered, youth empowerment is important\u201d Hon Anorue said.<\/p>\n

The frontline technocrat frowned at the use of youths as thugs, adding that the youth stands as a vital arm of any administration. He stated that the orientation of youths is highly dependent on the leadership style implored by political leaders, saying \u201cwhere there is good leadership, the youths will not opt for social vices\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the aim of the Greater Imo Assembly, Hon Anorue described the organization as a gathering of technocrats saddled with the responsibility of reviving the state. He hinted that the organization have unanimously agreed to throw weight behind candidates with youthful vigour, saying that Imo people crave for such an individual, instead of politicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe incoming administration must focus on the rural areas. We are yearning for a government that pays pensioners and workers. Most pensioners die due to poverty, most of them can\u2019t go to hospitals or even train their children.<\/p>\n
