{"id":18973,"date":"2018-05-17T17:51:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T17:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=18973"},"modified":"2018-05-17T17:51:02","modified_gmt":"2018-05-17T17:51:02","slug":"2019-imo-guber-group-commends-opara-ndudu-for-declaration-of-intent-pledges-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=18973","title":{"rendered":"2019 Imo Guber: Group Commends Opara-Ndudu for Declaration of Intent, Pledges Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A non-political group, known as Association of Concerned\u00a0 Indigenes of Imo State ( ACIIS), has commended Nick Opara-Ndudu,\u00a0 a banker and former commissioner , for his\u00a0 decision to\u00a0 vie for governorship position\u00a0 in 2019\u00a0 election in Imo State, saying that it was\u00a0 a bold initiative\u00a0 that would\u00a0 liberate\u00a0 Imolites from current\u00a0 socioeconomic and\u00a0 political slavery in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The group which spoke at the weekend in Owerri, through Zacchaeus Ikwonma, its acting Publicity Secretary, said \u201cthe current state of things in Imo State is tantamount\u00a0 to slavery and\u00a0 only\u00a0 a\u00a0 person with purposeful\u00a0 leadership ability can liberate\u00a0 Imo people from ugly situation. And it is for this reason that we are commending Opara-Ndudu for his bold step to mount the gauntlet for the liberation of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ikwonma said that \u201cin the last seven years, Imo State has been reduced to a fiefdom and run as a private estate to the exclusion of the people for the benefit of family members of the power- that-be and his cronies\u201d, adding that \u201cin Imo, live has become solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short for the people and it is personalities like Opara-Ndudu the Imolites need to put things right in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said ACIIS which is a nonprofit organization was formed to save Imo State from misrule perpetrated by the current administration in the state, adding \u201cwe are neither aliened nor affiliated to any political organization. Our objective is to defend Imo, and to rescue Imolites from the clique at the corridor of power.
