The Rescue Mission government in Imo State, led by Governor Rochas Okorocha has denied borrowing money from any bank, talk more of owing workers salaries.<\/p>\n

Okorocha’s claims came to fore following public concern on the financial activities of the outgoing governor.<\/p>\n

Recall that Trumpeta<\/em> had earlier reported on clandestine activities bordering on purported looting of government property and financial activities.<\/p>\n

Also, the Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and Elders Council had raised the alarm on suspected carting away of properties to unknown places.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the present situation, Imo government in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo has denied involvement in any financial rascality.<\/p>\n

The State government in the said press release maintained that it is neither owing banks nor owing workers salaries as speculated.<\/p>\n

Banks are however challenged to provide evidence indicating where and how the Rescue Mission government is owing.<\/p>\n

“Governor Rochas Okorocha\u2019s administration has never borrowed money from any bank either within or outside the Country. And we challenge any bank with contrary Claim to openly indicate and give details of such transaction for the public to know. We also give such Bank seven days to make public such counter Claim”.<\/p>\n

It further accused the PDP of peddling falsehood and not seeing anything good in the government.<\/p>\n

“We have come up with this position because the PDP is synonymous with falsehood and propaganda. And even as a Party, if they know any bank the government of Rochas Okorocha has borrowed one naira from, they should mention such Bank and State the particulars of the transaction so that interested persons can verify or forever, they should keep their mouths shut”.<\/p>\n

Imo government also allege to have paid workers salaries up to the month of February 2019, pointing out that the March salaries is about to commence.<\/p>\n

“In other words, the State Government is not owing any outstanding salary”.<\/p>\n

The press statement further cleared all allegations that it owes contractors across the State, pointing out that no contractor is owed a dime.<\/p>\n

“Again, the government of Governor Okorocha is not owing any Contractor. And if any Contractor has any Claim in the contrary he or she should immediately go to the Office of the Secretary to the government of Imo State with the relevant papers before May 29, 2019. We are doing this so that people would not come after the governor has left Office to lie against him or make dubious Claims”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
