{"id":2539,"date":"2012-09-27T17:39:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T17:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=2539"},"modified":"2012-09-27T17:39:00","modified_gmt":"2012-09-27T17:39:00","slug":"npl-october-kick-off-suspended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=2539","title":{"rendered":"NPL OCTOBER KICK \u2013 OFF SUSPENDED."},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/NPLl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2540\" title=\"NPLl\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/NPLl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/NPLl.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/NPLl-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2012\/13NigeriaPremier League season originally scheduled to kick \u2013 off by next month (October) has been put \u2013 off indefinitely according to official reports.<\/p>\n<p>A statement emanating from NPL secretariat inAbujadisclosed that theNigeriaPremier League is not likely to kick \u2013 off next month because of the unresolved title sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>Most clubs in the NPL have resumed training ahead of the new league season after a short break, but they may now have to wait a little longer as the authorities have insisted the competition will not again run without a title sponsor.<\/p>\n<p><em>Imo Trumpeta<\/em> has also gathered that the NPL Congress fixed for October 2 has been called off till further notice.<\/p>\n<p>It was however learnt that the country\u2019s sports minister has directed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure that the league only begins with a title sponsor in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NFF has already directed the premier league to suspend any plans for new season until the issue of a title sponsor is resolved once and for all,\u201d a top official said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA situation where the league cannot pay the indemnities of the match officials and they still owe clubs for paying such monies last season is not healthy for our football\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The NPL are expected to soon meet with the prospective sponsors who are willing to sign a short \u2013 term deal for the title rights of the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it is now, the NPL congress will review the past season, fix the kick \u2013 off date for the new season as well as use this opportunity to stage a draw for the fixtures for the forth coming campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The past season was crammed into nine months of action from January to September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
