{"id":27088,"date":"2020-01-22T18:38:06","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T18:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=27088"},"modified":"2020-01-22T18:39:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T18:39:00","slug":"imo-rerun-cp-meets-with-candidates-stakeholders-assures-police-readiness-to-provide-safety-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=27088","title":{"rendered":"Imo Rerun: CP Meets With Candidates, Stakeholders &#8230;&#8230;Assures Police Readiness To Provide Safety, Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?attachment_id=27089\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27089\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27089\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/inec.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/inec.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/inec-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">By: Tochi Onyeubi<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">As political parties, candidates and stakeholders are gearing up for the supplementary elections in select areas of the state this Saturday,\u00a0 the Commissioner of Police, CP Bolaji Fafowora has assured of police readiness to provide safety and security before, during and after the elections.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Speaking during a meeting held for candidates, stakeholders, political parties, and INEC including, sister security agencies at the police officers mess, the CP\u00a0 advised them to play by the rules and avoid all forms of electoral malpractices and offences.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Francis Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, also pledged to be neutral and promised to conduct the election in line with international best practices, he further assured the house of the Commission&#8217;s readiness to conduct the election.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The meeting which well attended by stakeholders and representatives of various political parties was highly interactive and contributions came different quarters.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Speaking also, the chairman of the state Inter Party Advisory Committee, IPAC, Mr Ben Duru who commended the Police and other security agencies for their conduct during the general election, charged them not to relent but to consolidate and improve on the achievements made so far.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">As part of the meeting proceedings, candidates and representatives were asked sign an undertaking for peace before, during and after the elections.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Recall that, the court had cancelled results of some select areas in Imo state citing gross malpractices and ordered supplementary elections, which will take place on Saturday, 25th January, 2020.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The re run is expected to hold at Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano Federal Constituency and Orlu, Orsu, Njaba Federal Constituency respectively, while supplementary elections holds for Njaba state constituency.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Protests Galore;
