The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma is said to have been thrown into deep shock, following the result of the Saturday Governorship election in Edo State, won by the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s PDP candidate, Gov Obaseki against the All Progressive Congress, APC candidate Ize-iyamu.
Sources told this Newspaper that the Imo Governor was humbled by the outcome of the election, as he had worked hard to deliver victory to his party APC, and Ally Comrade Adams Oshimhole, former APC National Chairman.
Trumpeta learnt that Gov Uzodinma is the Deputy Chairman of the Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council.
It was learnt that the APC hierarchy had too much confidence in Uzodinma to deliver Ize-Iyamu and APC in the election, and only put Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Ganduje, the chairman of the campaign council as a nominal chairman.
However, Uzodinma was dazzled and overwhelmed with the election as all plots to outwit PDP and its candidate failed woefully, with PDP winning with a wide margine.
Uzodinma who had concentrated on the Edo election in the last few months, shuttling between and Edo weekly, was said to be disappointed and yet to recover from the shock, which sources said Uzodinma is\u00a0 now worried on how to face President Mohammadu Buhari and brief him of the outcome of the \u201cEdo disaster\u201d.
This Newspaper learnt that the Imo Governor had wanted to use the Edo election to endear himself to the Presidency, by showing the President how strong and reliable he is within APC circle and which may work for him in some of the political hurdles facing the Governor.
Sources said that with the \u201cEdo Failure\u201d Governor Uzodinma\u2019s rating has suffered a big set- back both in Imo State and Abuja and needs to \u201cWake up\u201d or the \u201csliding will continue\u201d
Trumpeta was told that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had thought that the Edo election will be a pay back from Uzodinma who allegedly assured him that he will deploy various strategies to stop Obaseki from \u201cdisgracing his former Godfather Oshiomhole\u201d.
But unfortunately the entire plan to foists Ize-Iyamu as Governor failed leaving Uzodinma disappointed.
It would be recalled that Adam\u2019s Oshiomhole played a major role in making Uzodinma Governor in 2020, because it was Oshiomhole as APC National Chairman who accepted Alhaji Gulak\u2019s Imo Governorship primary result, with Uzodinma as the winner, while Governor Rochas Okorocha gnashed his teeth.
However, as Uzodinma mourns the poor outing in Edo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha is said to be jubilating, as he has not yet forgotten how Oshiomhole denied Uche Nwosu chances of being elected as Okorocha\u2019s successor.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that Imo Government House Owerri has been enveloped with mourning mood, as most of Uzodinma\u2019s Aides saw the Edo election as a rating for their Boss.
