Department Health, Mrs. Callista Chimezie has<br \/>\ncharged health workers to ensure 100% immunization of children 0 to 5<br \/>\nyears this Second Round National Immunization Plus Days (NIPD&#8217;s).<br \/>\nShe gave the charge while addressing focal ward persons and supervisors<br \/>\nat the commencement of the exercise in the area.<br \/>\nMrs. Chimezie assured adequate vaccines and logistics for the 4-day<br \/>\nprogramme that started Saturday, 2nd March, 2013 and<br \/>\nurged them to work hard to reach out to the targeted children<br \/>\npopulation.<br \/>\nThe HOD enjoined parents and caregivers to avail the opportunity offered<br \/>\nby programme and present their children for the vaccines irrespective<br \/>\nof immunization status to avert paralysis, deformity or death of child<br \/>\ndue to highly infectious Wild Polio Virus (WPV).<br \/>\nShe reiterated that two drops of life-saving Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)<br \/>\nadministered house to house, in churches, schools, health centres and<br \/>\noutreach post\u00a0 simultaneously with routine immunization at fix and<br \/>\ntemporary health centres was a strategy to check other killer diseases<br \/>\nlike measles, yellow fever, whooping cough, tuberculosis, diphtheria and<br \/>\ntetanus that could cause the death of mother or child.<br \/>\nMrs. Chimezie encouraged vaccinators and recorders to put in their best<br \/>\nand ensure accurate markings and records of houses and children<br \/>\nvaccinated.<br \/>\nSpeaking, the Local Immunization Officer, (LIO) Mr. Donatus Ohaka urged<br \/>\nthe vaccination team to liaise with traditional rulers, community<br \/>\nleaders, village, religious and school heads for thorough coverage.<br \/>\nHe stressed need for prompt report of rejection cases of OPV<br \/>\nadministration to children by parents, caregivers, schools and\u00a0 faith<br \/>\nbased organization for necessary attention.<br \/>\nMr. Ohaka explained that infection of one child with WPV exposes others<br \/>\nto pandemia risk and called for collective efforts to sustain the free<br \/>\npolio status.<br \/>\nHe appreciated joint efforts of local governments and states, the<br \/>\nfederal government and development partners such as UNICEF, Who Health<br \/>\nOrganization (WHO), Rotary International for Bill Gates Foundation for<br
