Former Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh, has fixed June 27, 2026, for a grand thanksgiving service, while formally stepping aside from the 2027 State Assembly race in a move he says is guided by fairness and political balance.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The three-term lawmaker representing Obowo State Constituency announced that the event will serve as a moment of gratitude to God, appreciation to his numerous supporters, and recognition of the role played by the incumbent Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in his emergence as a Speaker in the 9th House.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
More interesting is his determination not to contest either the House of Assembly seat for the fourth term or the speculated House of Representatives position.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In a political climate often marked by prolonged incumbency, Ibeh\u2019s withdrawal signals a rare nod to rotation and equity. He also ruled himself out of the Ehime Mbano\/Ihitte Uboma\/Obowo federal seat, hinging his decision on justice, equity and fairness.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to the vibrant lawmaker, pursuing the Federal House seat would amount to Obowo desiring to hold it for 16 straight years; a situation he considers unjust to component Local Governments.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be unfair and unjust,\u201d he said, emphasizing that his decision reflects personal conviction and respect for balance, not a directive to others.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In a related development, Ibeh explained that the early announcement prior to 2027 contests is deliberate, hinged on ending speculation about a possible fourth term bid, as well as to open the field for new aspirants.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He also hinted at a broader political role, expressing readiness to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with his wealth of experience.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
From a heart of gratitude, Hon. Kennedy Ibeh recalled steps to his limelight beginning from his early days as a Local Government appointee in 2008 to becoming Speaker in 2021.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He described his journey as one defined by God’s grace. Followed by his three consecutive terms in the Imo State House of Assembly, capped by his speakership.<\/p>\n
Gratefully, he tagged it a notable milestone in Obowo politics.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Reaffirming his party allegiance, Ibeh warned against anti-party activities, calling them a lasting stain on any politician\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n
