During Crimean War, majority of the soldiers were wounded, so their was insufficient medical personnel to attend to them.<\/p>\n<p>Florence Nightingale visits the injured Soldiers at night with her lamp to nurse their wounds, when she wanted to venture into Nursing her parents discouraged her abinitio but she persisted and Founded School of Nursing in Britain where nurses are trained. Nursing practice is inline with SDGs goals number 3 which is centered on Good health and well being; when practiced transforms into &#8220;Healing the world in order to make a better&#8221; as sang by Michael Jackson. Nursing Profession is inline with SDGS goal number 8 centered on Decent work and economic growth; meaning Nursing practice is a good work which contributes to economic growth of a country.<\/p>\n<p>As the Contemporary Nurses and Midwives celebrate their day, i want to admonish them to imbibe the Positive Virtues of Florence Nightingale which are as follows; Being Compassionate toward your patients: Nurses and Midwives should be merciful when treating their patients<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Patience: Nurses should calm their stubborn or frightened patients.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Love: Nurses should love their patients.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prompt action: Nurses and Midwives should respond to emergency situations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Humility: Nurses should be humble in their approaches towards their work. As you celebrate your International Nursing day I want to sing your chorus anthem &#8220;Nurses are great,<\/p>\n<p>Nurses are caring epitome of humility and service, we are specially ordained for this Vocations, Yes am proud to be a Nurse.<\/p>\n<p>I wish you both the Nurses and Midwives happy International Nursing day. &#8220;Bon appetite&#8221; meaning enjoy yourselves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International Nursing day: Celebrating our awesome Nurses.
