{"id":51261,"date":"2026-11-04T18:59:34","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T18:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=51261"},"modified":"2026-11-04T18:59:34","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T18:59:34","slug":"aftermath-of-high-court-judgement-on-orlu-zone-senate-suspicion-galore-in-imo-apc-as-okorochas-former-allies-plan-regroup-chike-okafor-ozb-others-on-watchlist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=51261","title":{"rendered":"Aftermath of High Court Judgement on Orlu Zone Senate; Suspicion Galore In Imo APC, As Okorocha&#8217;s Former Allies Plan Regroup  &#8230;Chike Okafor, OZB, Others On Watchlist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aftermath of High Court Judgement on Orlu Zone Senate; Suspicion Galore In Imo APC, As Okorocha&#8217;s Former Allies Plan Regroup<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Chike Okafor, OZB, Others On Watchlist<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?attachment_id=36549\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36549\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36549\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apc-flag.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apc-flag.jpg 650w, http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apc-flag-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The recently announced judgement of the Federal High Court of Abuja on who is authorised to carry the flag of APC in the Imo West Senatorial District election is being trailed by oddities in the political scene of the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recall that a week ago, the Federal High Court in Abuja asked that the former governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha&#8217;s name be forwarded to replace that of the incumbent, Senator Hope Uzodimma as APC candidate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since the judgement was delivered, the camp of the governor, comprising political office holders and part stalwarts have been edgy with fear while trying to cast aspersions on the former who once represented the zone after leaving office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trumpeta learnt that beyond throwing tantrums at Okorocha for winning in court against Uzodimma, the governor&#8217;s followers and party are becoming uncomfortable with the presence of Okorocha&#8217;s former allies in the party and camp.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The suspicion became rife on Monday during the stakeholders meeting in Owerri where strong followers of Uzodimma openly castigated Okorocha but some of the former governor&#8217;s past appointees now in alignment with Uzodimma in APC failed to call the name of the former governor in their speeches.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The attitude of Okorocha&#8217;s former appointees during the IICC, Owerri meeting designed to pass a vote of no confidence on the former governor created room for suspicion even as this newspaper was told that plans are underway to revive the Rescue Mission camp in APC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During Okorocha&#8217;s reign in Imo, the political camp was known as the Rescue Mission. While others left the APC, many are still within the fold giving the Uzodimma administration the needed support until the new dispensation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Already, two former play makers during the Okorocha era; Honourables Chike Okafor and Ugonna Ozuruigbo with others are on the watchlist of Okorocha&#8217;s followers who are said to be monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While Okafor served as a commissioner before getting House of Reps opportunity, Ugonna was a Deputy Speaker during the Okorocha era.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is suspicion that the advantage Okorocha gained through the court may influence further steps of his former foot soldiers romancing Uzodimma in APC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What gave further credence to this suspicion is the suspect induced public statement credited to Hon Ozuruigbo otherwise known as OZB, a day after the Owerri meeting. When the suspicion of the alleged regroup of the former Okorocha&#8217;s men came up, the former Deputy Speaker from Nwangele State Constituency went to make another interview. In the statement, OZB reportedly mentioned Okorocha&#8217;s name, observers suspected, was a design to alley the fears of Uzodimma&#8217;s henchmen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trumpeta further learnt that the suspicion has grown in Uzodimma&#8217;s camp with the party leadership and Govt House mindful of the utterances and behind the scenes political escapades of Okorocha&#8217;s former allies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aftermath of High Court Judgement on Orlu Zone Senate;
