Since last week,the grave yard silence in the Imo Political Environment has suddenly been stirred into life by a Litigation battle between two Imo Political Heavy Weights: Senators Rochas Okorocha and Hope Uzodinma.<\/p>\n
One was a former Governor and the other is the Incumbent Governor.<\/p>\n
They are both laying claim to the Imo West Senatorial(Orlu Zone) Ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n
This followed a Voodoo party Primary by the party which left both APC members in the Senatorial Zone and observers bemused regarding who was the actual winner, until Senator Okorocha approached the Court to determine who between him and Uzodimma should fly the APC flag for the election proper.<\/p>\n
Before then,the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had published Governor Uzodimma’s name on it’s Portal as the Candidate.<\/p>\n
While many had thought the issue of Orlu Senate ticket was won and lost,Okorocha quietly approached an Abuja High Court on the issue.<\/p>\n
Even when some people heard of the Litigation, many doubted its efficacy knowing what our present Nigerian System has become and how powerful Governor Hope Uzodimma is across Nigeria today under APC.<\/p>\n
But to the shock of many the Abuja High Court proved Doubting Thomaes wrong by delivering a judgment that shook the Nigeria political climate.<\/p>\n
The Court reversed the INEC decision that previously made Uzodimma Candidate and said Okorocha is the authentic Candidate, affirming that documents presented to it by Uzodimma’s Camp lacked merit and could not be relied upon.<\/p>\n
And this was after it was every where in the News,even with alleged News Releases from INEC, that Okorocha had no documents but parading forged papers.<\/p>\n
Later, News was awash that Okorocha has been arrested by Police and detained for forgery which was immediately debunked by his Media team.<\/p>\n
It was in the midst of these conflicting and confusing stories that the Abuja High Court struck and said Okorocha is the Orlu Senate Candidate for APC.<\/p>\n
Senator Hope Uzodinma has now headed to Appeal Court to challenge the verdict of the Lower Court.<\/p>\n
However, if you think the matter will cool down until Apeal Court makes her pronouncement,you are joking, because the situation has rather degenerated to a Media War between the two Gladiators.<\/p>\n
Okorocha ignited the Media “Roforofo” when he ran to the prime time Television Stations to lampoon the Imo Governor, Uzodimma, in a no- holds-barred Interview.<\/p>\n
Owelle Okorocha used his usual caustic tongue, as a known Orator, to carpet Uzodimma from all fronts.<\/p>\n
Okorocha even went memory lane to exhume how Uzodimma, after he became Governor,humiliated the entire Okorocha family, including himself, his daughter and Inlaws.<\/p>\n
From this revelation by Okorocha it became clear that the Senatorial Seat is a decoy in a revenge war to get back at Uzodimma for what he did to his Predecessor and family.<\/p>\n
Okorocha went further to illuminate another issue which many Imo people have been whispering on the streets of Owerri: how would our Governor be sitting in Government House Owerri, and still Contest for Senatorial seat when election for Senate is in January 16th next year and that of Governor is about November same year?<\/p>\n
“And this is a Governor preaching chatter of Equity.<\/p>\n
Why not leave the Seat for another section of Orlu in the spirit of Equity and Justice?” People Ask in mumurings.<\/p>\n
Okorocha in this battle raised the issue of Two- Public-Offices-At-The-Same- Time open .<\/p>\n
One doesn’t know if Okorocha added it as one of his Prayers in Court as he kept repeating it in his Media Outings.<\/p>\n
Now,Okorocha has stirred the Augean stable as the whole of Governor Uzodimma’s Expanded Executive members have descended on him with venomous viterpuration on his person and character.<\/p>\n
Okorocha called them “Attack Dogs”.<\/p>\n
Bu it is not only raining on Okorocha but pouring.<\/p>\n
Everything about his past administration as Imo Governor has been brought out.<\/p>\n
His shoddy projects,including his “Acidic roads” have been xrayed back to the psych of Imo people.<\/p>\n
Now it is as if Uzodimma and Okorocha are competing for an election from different Political parties and not internal party primary.<\/p>\n
Imo is buzzing and the topic is Okorocha and Uzodimma,wherever you go.<\/p>\n
Even a former Imo APC Chairman, has openly revealed that Okorocha was suspended from the party. And had remained since then suspended.<\/p>\n
The People of Ideato South,where Okorocha comes from have denied him. It was the same people who went and passed a Vote of No Confidence on Okorocha on top of a Bridge built in Ideato by Uzodimma,which Okorocha could not complete in Eight years as Governor.<\/p>\n
It can’t get more weird and bizarre in Imo Politics!<\/p>\n
Now,this hot matter has dove tailed into the controversy that trailed 2021 Imo Governorship election where Governor Uzodimma rose from the fourth Position to claim the Seat from the person pronounced Winner by INEC,Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.<\/p>\n
What the “Public Jury” is asking is why Uzodimma and his Camp are furious and complaining about the latest judgment that went against them but are at peace enjoying the Booty that should have been for Ihedioha?<\/p>\n
Indeed, the Abuja Court victory by Okorocha has put a dent on the Uzodimma All Powerful Persona as it is now confirmed that he can be floored.<\/p>\n
It also happened to Okorocha when he sat in his Majesty as the Governor of Imo State.<\/p>\n
It took the “Imerienwe Declaration” to puncture the Omnipotent posture of Okorocha and it paved way to call his bluffs and liberated APC then to allow Governorship Aspirants to venture out,including now Governor Uzodimma,who snatched the ticket from Okorocha’s Son in Law,Chief Uche Nwosu.<\/p>\n
However, why some people are backing Senator Okorocha is not that they Love him,but because he has become the Object to get at Uzodimma seen as becoming too powerful both in Imo and Abuja..<\/p>\n
It is even rumored that some Powerful forces are backing Okorocha in this battle of supremacy against Uzodimma.<\/p>\n
Whatever be the final outcome in the end, what is now certain is that the Orlu APC Senate Seat has developed a K leg,apologies to Obasanjo.<\/p>\n
It is obvious that after Appeal Court had treated the matter and gives its Judgement, whether it went to Uzodimma or Okorocha, one person MUST head to Supreme Court for the final arbitration.<\/p>\n
And looking at the INEC Callender and how slowly our Judiciary dispense matters,this Okorocha\/Uzodimma debacle may well eat into the election date of the Orlu Senate seat.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, may all the Camps sheath thier Swords and allow Justice to prevail.<\/p>\n
No Forum Shopping, Media Attacks and Emotional display will solve the matter but would rather exacerbate and excalate it.<\/p>\n
