Residents of Orji, in Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State, were on Thursday thrown into deep mourning after one of them, Mr Aloy Duru Committed suicide by hanging.
\nAccording to eye witness account, the late Duru who hails from Ideato South LGA, Imo State, worked as a Driver at the Imo State owned Imo Transport Company, ITC.
\nThe late Driver is said to be an elder brother of an Aide to the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who is incharge of Transport.
\nSources close to the departed ITC Staff told Trumpeta that the man may have choose the option of suicide, following life challenges facing his family since ITC started owing the Staff.
\nAn eye witness told Trumpeta that the middle aged Aloy Duru, married with kids, took the dastardly option on October 3, 2013.
\nTrumpeta learnt that late Duru joined ITC as a Driver after the Global Ginikana, headed by Mr Emeka Duru took over the management of the Company. But until his untimely death he was owed 5 months salary.
\nIt was learnt that Aloy, who joined ITC from C N Okoli Transport, took ill and went to the Hospital to take care of himself.
\nHowever, when he was asked to present a Deposit before the treatment could commence, he had none. Therefore, he applied for salary advance which was not forthcoming too, and he had no alternative than to return home.
\nOn getting home, Duru discovered that his children were sent back from school for lack of school fees. The sad man was still pondering about this when the Landlord reminded him of the House rent.
\nTherefore, as the wife left for Church on Thursday, Aloy was said to have left his children at the palour and went to the inner room, locked himself up and hung himself.
\nIt took the wife who returned home to find the bed room door locked, and had it broken, only to see her husband hanging on the ceiling.
\nMrs Duru’s cry attracted the neighbours at their No 3 Maduwuba avenue, Orji, after which the matter was reported to the police.
