\nAnother brouhaha similar to what kick-started the year is about to emerge as the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the umpteenth time is receiving scathing remarks over how allocation accruable to the state is spent.
\nIt would be recalled that the local media was awash with claims and counter-claims between the Minister Supervising Foreign Ministry, Prof Viola Onwuliri and agents of the state government over federal government allocations to the state.
\nWhile the dust raised by the Minister’s allegation is yet to settle, the Sure-P committee has accused the Imo state government of misappropriating funds allocated to the state.
\nBased on the allegations leveled against the state adopted diversion of the funds for other purposes for which it was about designed for, the national office of Sure-P is contacting anti-graft agencies to investigate Sure-P funds made available to the state.
\nThe Imo State Chapter of Sure-P under Chief Jasper Ndubuaku had alleged diversion of the organization’s fund, stating that the funds running into billions could not be accounted for by Okoroca government since inception of the programme.
\nChairman of the Committee in Imo, Ndubuaku disclosed that the Federal Government had set up an auditing panel to probe the Sure-P fund allocated to the state. He said that investigations followed petitions by the Sure-P Committee, which complained over the diversion.
\nNdubuaku was reported to have written letters to Governor Okorocha to convene a meeting to discuss how the programme will be run in the state, to no avail. Ndubuaku further alleged that government was frustrating Sure-P Committee to pave way for the embezzlement of the fund.
\n\u201cThe programme is divided between the FG and state governments but we are yet to see the programme of the state government. We have written to the national body to investigate how the funds are invested in the state\u201d he added.
