Ahead of the January 18, 2018 election to produce the next Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, royal fathers are divided over who picks the Eze Imo position.<\/p>\n

After about six years tenure in office, the state governor, Rochas Okorocha has ordered for an election to produce a new chairman of the council at the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent.<\/p>\n

The division is said to be between those in favour of the incumbent, Eze Sam Ohiri and others against his purported return to office. Before the buildup, those suspecting government plot to return Ohiri back as chairman had kicked against certain process where only one monarch each from the LGA will be elected as delegate to represent the 27 LGAs during voting. The idea received several kicks from the Ezes before a three-man delegate was later adopted.<\/p>\n

As the delegate nomination reaches feverish pitch, division has been noticed in the fold of the traditional rulers as those in support of the incumbent are pitched against anti Ohiri elements found in all the LGAs.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there is suspicion of a plot to return Ohiri to office to continue as chairman. This view became manifest with the emergence of pro-Ohiri monarchs as delegates in most of the LGAs.<\/p>\n

Trumpeta<\/em> also spotted some of the Ezes milling around the Eze Imo office in Owerri, while secret meetings are taking place on how to ensure Ohiri emerges victorious.<\/p>\n
