Nekede Autonomous community in Owerri West Local Government Area,ImoStatehas fingered the Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State on peace and conflict resolution, Barr Peter Ohagwa of allegedly fanning embers of discord that is militating against selection of a new Traditional Ruler of the community.<\/p>\n

In a petition addressed to the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, captioned, \u201cSOS to His Excellency Governor Rochas Okorocha, to save of from Barr Peter Ohagwa, your Special Assistant, Peace and Conflict Resolution\u201d the community alleged that the SA in one of Owerri based News papers had said that the Ezeship stool of Nekede is \u201chereditary but rotational\u201d, among the family of Nwakeakanwa, made up of the Agumanus, Nkwazemas Awobis and Shimobis.<\/p>\n

In the petition signed by some prominent personalities of the community, including High Chief C U Nkemakolam and Mr Kelvin Nzuruike, President General, and President Nekede Central Youths Association respectively, the Community insisted that the Governor\u2019s representative has no right to tell them who becomes their Traditional Ruler.<\/p>\n

The petition said that Nekede people had massively voted a candidate of their choice, but are disturbed that there is delay in handing him staff of office by government.<\/p>\n

The community said they had demonstrated at the premises of Imo House of Assembly, and Ministry of\u00a0 Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to register their anger over none issuance of staff of office to the community\u2019s choice as their Traditional Ruler.<\/p>\n

They therefore said that there is no community inImoState\u201cwhere Ezeship stool is both hereditary and rotational\u201d and maintained that Nekede Ezeship stool is hereditary and warned that the \u201cencroachment\u201d of their Tradition and customs by a \u201cforeigner\u201d has angered the community as it is causing serious discontent.<\/p>\n

They thanked the Governor for his statesmanship and concern over the issue of Nekede Ezeship stool.<\/p>\n
