{"id":2398,"date":"2012-09-20T17:45:21","date_gmt":"2012-09-20T17:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=2398"},"modified":"2012-09-20T17:45:21","modified_gmt":"2012-09-20T17:45:21","slug":"appreciating-the-laws-of-the-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=2398","title":{"rendered":"APPRECIATING THE LAWS OF THE GAME"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DAN-BASKET-BALL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2399\" title=\"DAN BASKET BALL\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DAN-BASKET-BALL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DAN-BASKET-BALL.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DAN-BASKET-BALL-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coiled from Linus Mbas\u2019s lecture,<\/p>\n<p>A FIFA Technical Advisers \u2013 Refereeing<\/p>\n<p>Consultant Refereeing \u2013 NFF<\/p>\n<p>Former member CAF Refereeing Committee<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I have selected the most common offences by players in matches for decisions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These are, TRIPPING OR ATTEMPTING TO TRIP AN OPPONENT; PUSHING AN OPPONENT ; CHARGING AN OPPONENT\/CHALLENGING FROM BEHIND AND HOLIDING AN OPPONENT.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We are going to look at these offences to determine whether they are committed in a careless manner; or by using excessive force.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As stated earlier , a careless offence attracts direct free kick ; a reckless offence, a direct free kick and caution(yellow card) and using excessive force attracts a direct free kick and an expulsion (red card).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When any of these offences are committed in the penalty area, the sanction is of course penalty.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>TRIPPING AN OPPONENT<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A trip is simply defined as \u201cto cause or attempt to cause an opponent to fall.\u201d As we accept this definition , it means that a trip can be induced by foot ; by hand ; or by the body.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>An example: An attacking player tries to drible the ball past a defender who has moved into his path , the referee has to determine the manner of the tripping whether the offence is committed carelessly, Recklessly or by using excessive force to sanction appropriately.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0Mostly skillful players are always objects of Tripping offences in attempts to stop them from scoring or advancing attacks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>PUSHING<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A push is delivered conventionally by hand , but it is some-times possible with the thigh or the body. Law twelve is broken even if there is the slightest push.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>An offence is committed when an attacking player tries to move past an opponent in order to gain possession of the ball but is denied the opportunity by possibly a defender through pushing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is important to note that it is immaterial whether the offence is committed by the hand , or the body.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Pushing can be committed when a player decides to jump from behind to head the ball.
