There appears to be no end to the troubles stopping the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha from getting the approval that he won the Senate of Orlu Zone under APC.<\/p>\n

Okorocha has been stopped among the recipients of the Certificate of Return after the electoral body revealed that he will not join other winners because the Returning Officer who declared him winner said he did so under duress.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Trumpeta gathered that the embattled Imo State governor was nowhere near the International Conference Centre venue of the exercise in Abuja as other winners collected their certificates.<\/p>\n

Reconfirming INEC’s position on the matter, Festus Okoye, INEC\u2019s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education\u00a0 made it clear why the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not present a certificate of return to Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.<\/p>\n

Answering questions on a national television on yesterday, Mr Festus Okoye, INEC\u2019s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education explained that INEC took the decision because the returning officer for Imo West senatorial district election had reported that he declared Governor Okorocha winner \u201cunder duress\u201d<\/p>\n
Although governor Okorocha had insisted that he won the elections fairly and had dismissed the claim that his victory was declared under duress, INEC still omitted his name from the list of those to be issued with a certificate of return despite his protests against the decision.<\/p>\n
Mr. Okoye went ahead to say that the commission had investigated the matter and had found out that truly the returning officer declared the results for imo west senatorial zone under duress and for that reason INEC cannot present Governor Okorocha with a certificate of return, he insisted that the reason for the non-inclusion of Governor Okorocha\u2019s name on the list of those we presented with a certificate of return was made clear in INEC\u2019s website<\/p>\n
