The Immediate Past Governor of Imo State, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has officially submitted petition before the Supreme Court to review a Judgment delivered against him and his party the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP on January 14.<\/div>\n
Trumpeta gathered that the request for review was finally submitted to the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at the Three Arms Zone, Abuja on Wednesday<\/div>\n
A source closed to the sacked governor confided in Trumpeta that the appeal was officially filed yesterday. All necessary documents have been assembled and we expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would find reasons to reverse its earlier decision.<\/div>\n
The source further said, “We have sufficient grounds to prove that there are errors in the judgment, and we believe that the Supreme Court justices will see reasons to review its earlier judgment,\u201d .<\/div>\n
Ihedioha is asking the Supreme Court to review the verdict in view of what it said in the Atiku\u2019s presidential petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, wherein the apex court said that all the witnesses in the polling stations must account for what happened in their respective polling stations.”<\/div>\n
\u201cIn this instant case, not up to 10 per cent of the witnesses of 388 polling stations were recorded. So, basically, we asking the Supreme Court to be courageous and take a second look by reviewing the judgment again. This is the essence of the petition to review\u201d.<\/div>\n
Citing, the same Supreme Court verdict on the Sokoto State governorship election petition, the source said there are elements of double standards, explaining that the Justice Abba Aji in the case of Sokoto State governorship petitions, said that the court has no power to count or allocate votes.<\/div>\n
Recall that the seven-member panel of Supreme Court justices led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mohammed Tanko had, on January 14, declared Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Imo State.<\/div>\n
In the unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere -Ekun, the apex court held that Ihedioha was not dully elected and added that, \u201chis election is void and illegal.\u201d<\/div>\n
