As the lockdown amidst dwindling economic fortune hits residents of Imo State, a journalist and one time staff of the Imo Broadcasting Cooperation, IBC, Mr Ndukaku John Chimezie, JP, has granted tenants in his house free rent for two months.
Ndukaku a former employee of the Imo State Government who retired from civil service after serving as head of Imo Library Board, Trumpeta was informed granted the 2 months rent free to the 5 tenants of the 5 flats in his house located at Onwubuariri street, at the water logged Umuofor area of Egbu near Owerri in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.
According to Ndukaku in a confirmation message to Trumpeta, he said that the tenants have been exempted from payment of rent for the months of March and April 2020.
He said that it was in the spirit of Easter and also a help to cushion the effects of Covid-19 that is ravaging the society. \u201cI call on other landlords to do otherwise, though, I am a pensioner, but I believe I am better than my tenants.
By assisting one another, we will be helping our government and pleasing God with our resources\u201d.
Stating further, Ndukaku who was once an On-air personality of Igbo Language in IBC further stated, \u201cMay God help us as we assist others in various ways we are in privileged positions.
