The former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah, has requested for the verification of the remote and immediate causes of the pipeline explosion at Obiakpu part of Egbema in Ohaji\/Egbema LGA of Imo State even as he sympathized with affected communities over damages incurred.
Opiah who is the Special Adviser to Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma on Oil and Gas Matters, after a visit to the location of the incident, expressed worries over the causes of the explosion, warranting him to seek for further\u00a0 investigation.
It would be recalled that an oil pipeline of the NNPC exploded and resulted to massive fire outbreak that destroyed economic trees and aquatic life in the entire Egbema waterline territory.
The former speaker, who is also from Egbema community, accompanied by the Interim Management Committee of the Ohaji\/Egbema, Prince Marcel Amadioha and police officers went to the fire outbreak location to assess the extent of the damage.
Trumpeta correspondent learnt that the inglorious\u00a0 explosion which had capacity to wipe out the area, destroyed economic trees and polluted the river that runs through Obiakpu, Mmahu, Abacheke and Abezu communities in Egbema part of Imo State.
Opiah regretted the explosion incident by stating that concerned authorities should look into the matter to find out what led to the outbreak of fire to avoid future occurrence.
He informed security agencies and the LGA to institute inquires concerning the incident. The former Speaker who sympathized with the communities asked the oil companies to consider remedies to affected communities. Similarly, the LGA chairman, Prince Amadioha said that plans are underway to reach out to the communities affected for solution the trouble created.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
