The Death has been officially announced of\u00a0 a former Chairman\u00a0 of the\u00a0 People Democratic Party(PDP) in Imo State, and member Board of Trustee, BOT\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0PDP, Dr. Alex Aforkwalam Obi,(MFR), IKemba Mbaise.<\/p>\n
He was aged 68.<\/p>\n
A statement issued by the family, signed by Mr.Valentine Obi, Snr brother and Mr. Alexander Obi, Jnr (son)\u00a0 \u00a0respectively, states that the\u00a0sad event took place on\u00a0Sunday, January 15, 2023 after a brief illness.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Dr. Obi, until his death was a\u00a0 Chieftain of\u00a0 PDP ;a former Board Chairman, National Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi ,\u00a0 the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, FIRO, Oshodi and\u00a0 member, National Business and Technical Examination Board, NABTEB, among others.<\/p>\n
He was front runner in\u00a0the\u00a0Imo State Governorship race under the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP, lost\u00a0narrowly to late Evans Enwerem .<\/p>\n
According to the family, the body of Dr\u00a0Alex Obi would be\u00a0laid to rest on Friday 17th, February 2023 at his family compound\u00a0 at Oboama Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State after a requiem mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Oboama Enyiogugu.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife,\u00a0 Mrs Margaret Orishetimeyin Obi ,Five Children and\u00a0 siblings.<\/p>\n
