{"id":41190,"date":"2023-08-24T08:55:08","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T08:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=41190"},"modified":"2023-08-24T08:55:08","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T08:55:08","slug":"security-personnel-foil-alleged-ipob-attack-in-imo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=41190","title":{"rendered":"Security Personnel Foil Alleged IPOB Attack In Imo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"yiv8110927138gmail-MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p class=\"yiv8110927138gmail-MsoNoSpacing\">Troops of the Nigerian army have killed a suspected member of the outlawed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indigenous_People_of_Biafra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Indigenous People of Biafra<\/a>\u00a0(IPOB) and arrested two others who attempted to attack soldiers in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Imo_State\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Imo State<\/a>, Nigeria\u2019s South-east.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv8110927138gmail-MsoNoSpacing\">The army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, who disclosed this in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/100067341542365\/posts\/pfbid021NB7cG7uDRF6RqEdhR6qG5ME7KNU1Zzssa2qDNqVGyfcvCAsXfGYjmZjhoLjPjPsl\/?app=fbl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">statement\u00a0<\/a>on Tuesday night, said the incident happened at the army\u2019s Forward Operating Base in Ukwuorji along Owerri \u2013 Onitsha Expressway in the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv8110927138gmail-MsoNoSpacing\">\u201cThe irredentist fighters attempted the attack on the troops on 20 August 2023, but met their waterloo, when they came under the superior firepower of the vigilant troops. The troops neutralised one of the fighters, while two others were arrested, as others fled,\u201d Mr Nwachukwu, a brigadier-general, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv8110927138gmail-MsoNoSpacing\">One vehicle, a mobile phone, a machete, nine empty cases of expended 7.62 mm special ammunition and one empty case of expended 12.7mm ammunition were recovered from the separatists, according to the
