To those who think Aliko Dangote built a refinery, I beg you to think again.<\/p>\n
Dangote isn\u2019t just refining oil, he\u2019s refining perspective.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He didn\u2019t build a refinery; he built a mirror, showing African leaders and entrepreneurs what Africa could achieve if we stopped exporting raw materials and outsourcing our future.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In 2015, I wrote a piece that ruffled a few diplomatic feathers, especially among my European friends. I asked:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
How does Belgium, without a single cocoa farm, make more money from chocolate than C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, the world\u2019s largest cocoa producer?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
That question still matters. Africa must stop exporting raw materials and start exporting value. Because the real wealth isn\u2019t in the resource, it\u2019s in the refinement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Look at China. Their strength doesn\u2019t come from natural resources, but from a skill-based education system that empowers citizens to manufacture, innovate, and compete globally.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
By 2030, Africa will have over 1 billion people under 35.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s not just a statistic, it\u2019s a once-in-a-century opportunity. With the right skills, mindset, and infrastructure, we can turn Africa\u2019s challenges into the world\u2019s next wave of opportunity.<\/p>\n
