The serenity reigning in the Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, may witness a halt if a development in the party is to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
Despite earlier claims and counter claims,<\/p>\n
the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State Chapter, has issued a statement on the need to draw the attention of the<\/p>\n
\u200egeneral public to series of misleading claims, false representations, and deliberate<\/p>\n
\u200emisinformation currently being circulated by a group led by Prof. Okoroma, purporting to<\/p>\n
\u200erepresent the leadership of the ADC in Imo State.<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200eAccording to the statement signed and presented to journalists in Owerri, Emmanuel Amuchie serves as the party’s chairman as against Prof Okoroma.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The statement further states that the “African<\/p>\n
\u200eDemocratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State remains one and united, with its State Executive<\/p>\n
\u200eCommittee led by the Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amuchie as the only organic, constitutionally<\/p>\n
\u200econstituted, legally valid, and officially recognized leadership of the party in the state”<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200eIt further reads that “the Amuchie-led executive emerged through a properly convened and duly conducted party<\/p>\n
\u200e process, carried out strictly in compliance with the Constitution of the ADC, particularly the<\/p>\n
\u200e provisions governing the structure, election, tenure, and recognition of State Executive<\/p>\n
\u200eCommittees. The process was further conducted in line with directives from the National<\/p>\n
\u200eWorking Committee (NWC) of the party \u2013 the highest administrative authority of the ADC<\/p>\n
\u200ebetween National Conventions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
“\u200eFor the avoidance of doubt, the Amuchie-led State Executive Committee is the only leadership<\/p>\n
\u200eduly recognized and formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission<\/p>\n
\u200e(INEC) in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2022 and INEC\u2019s established guidelines on the<\/p>\n
\u200erecognition of political party executives. Consequently, INEC recognizes only the Amuchie-led<\/p>\n
\u200eExecutive as the lawful and legitimate leadership of the ADC in Imo State.<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e”The claims being advanced by the Okoroma-led group have no constitutional foundation, lack<\/p>\n
\u200ethe approval of the ADC National Working Committee, and enjoy no recognition whatsoever<\/p>\n
\u200efrom INEC. Their actions therefore amount to impersonation and a calculated attempt to mislead<\/p>\n
\u200ethe public, party members, and relevant institutions.<\/p>\n
\u200eThe African Democratic Congress remains a law-abiding political party committed to internal<\/p>\n
\u200edemocracy, constitutionalism, due process, and institutional integrity. Any attempt to undermine<\/p>\n
\u200ethese principles through unauthorized factional activities, false claims, or misrepresentation of<\/p>\n
\u200eparty authority amounts to sabotage of the party and the good people of Imo state.<\/p>\n
\u200eHe also stated that this will be<\/p>\n
\u200efirmly resisted through all lawful and institutional means available.<\/p>\n

” \u200eWhile the party leadership and our amiable Chairman remain open to genuine reconciliation and<\/p>\n
\u200econstructive engagement aimed at building a stronger and more vibrant party in Imo State, the<\/p>\n
\u200egeneral public, party members, supporters, government agencies, and all stakeholders are<\/p>\n
\u200ehereby advised to disregard any statements, publications, or activities emanating from the<\/p>\n
\u200eOkoroma-led group, as they do not represent the ADC in Imo State in any capacity whatsoever.<\/p>\n
\u200eFor all official party matters, engagements, correspondence, and political activities concerning<\/p>\n
\u200ethe African Democratic Congress in Imo State,as the public is advised to deal exclusively with the<\/p>\n
\u200eonly organic, constitutionally valid and INEC-recognized authority of the party in the state-the Executive Committee led by Chief Emmanual Amuchie.<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e<\/p>\n
“\u200eThe party further acknowledges and commends the pivotal role played by Owerri-born politician<\/p>\n
\u200eand international investment finance entrepreneur, Mr. Tony Ejiogu, in the ongoing repositioning<\/p>\n
\u200eand strengthening of the ADC in Imo State.<\/p>\n
\u200eMr. Ejiogu, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)<\/p>\n
\u200ein the 2023 Imo State governorship election, has demonstrated exemplary leadership by<\/p>\n
\u200ebringing critical stakeholders together, brokering strategic realignments, and providing<\/p>\n
\u200esubstantial moral, financial, and organizational support toward building a more united, focused,<\/p>\n
\u200eand formidable ADC in the state.<\/p>\n
\u200eHis visionary contributions have been instrumental in the renewed momentum and growing<\/p>\n
\u200eacceptance of the party across Imo State.<\/p>\n
“\u200eThe African Democratic Congress in Imo State remains united, focused, and committed to<\/p>\n
\u200eproviding credible leadership and a viable political alternative for the people of Imo State” the statement added.<\/p>\n
