A palpable tension is hanging on the air at Awo-Omamma, Oru East LGA, following the fate that has befallen one of their own, Hon Osita Nnewuihe whose Mercedes Benz car was involved in an accident with the Convoy of the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who had minor head injury during the incident.<\/p>\n

As at this morning, the people of Awo-Omamma Community are still apprehensive of what will be of their son, Nnewuihe, since no body has physically seen him since after the car accident, except the wife, Calista, who was given brief time to talk to her husband.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Speaking to Trumpeta<\/em><\/strong>, Chief Emmanuel Ejikonye wondered why Osita\u2019s detention has been shrouded in secrecy as if he committed murder, instead of an accident, which no fatal casualty was recorded.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Chief Ejikonye maintained that what Osita committed was a traffic offence, and bailable, but was surprised that the police has refused to let him see his people.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat offence did he commit apart from an accident? And no body died. For over a week now Osita has not received any treatment, apart from first aide\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bar Ambrose Onyesiado, who claimed to be close to the Nnewuihe\u2019s family said that even though the police has agreed they are holding Osita, his name did not appear on the roaster of list of detainees which makes the matter complicated.<\/p>\n

The Lawyer said Osita is an Imo citizen, Nigerian and has the same fundamental human right like others, and should be treated with due respect and humility.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cNo body has asked if Osita has taken adequate treatment, but the Governor is in a London Hospital. Must he be allowed to die because he is a poor man? Bar Onyesiado asked.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the wife, Mrs Calista Nnewuihe has reiterated her call for the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to release her husband who has now spent one week in police detention for an auto accident that did not claim any life.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease help me to beg the Governor to release my husband so that he can be treated. We have been suffering since his detention. I am tired of answering my children about the whereabout of their father\u201d the confused woman pleaded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
