{"id":7010,"date":"2013-06-13T13:21:05","date_gmt":"2013-06-13T13:21:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=7010"},"modified":"2013-06-13T13:21:05","modified_gmt":"2013-06-13T13:21:05","slug":"2011-imo-guber-supplementary-election-remove-suspected-okorochas-friends-in-supreme-court-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/?p=7010","title":{"rendered":"2011 Imo Guber Supplementary Election Remove Suspected Okorocha\u2019s Friends In Supreme Court Panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7014\" alt=\"ow\" src=\"http:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ow.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ow.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.imotrumpeta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ow-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By peter uzoma<\/p>\n<p>Despite the reported removal of Justices Muhammed Muntaka Coomasie and Sulieman Galadima from the Panel of Justices hearing Gov Rochas Okorocha&#8217;s appeal at the Supreme Court, challenging the Appeal court ruling joining Dr Ikedi Ohakim as party in the Imo 2011 Governorship Supplementary election matter brought by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, a Group of Lawyers have kicked against the panel set to hear the case at Supreme Court Abuja.<br \/>\nThe Lawyers under the aegis of Lawyers in Defence of Democracy (LIDD), an affiliate member of Leadership Watch International, USA, has queried the inclusion of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed in the new Panel, much more as the head.<br \/>\nIn a petition to the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, dated 5\/6\/2013 and submitted on 6\/6\/2013, with the caption \u201cRe: Imo Governorship election case\u201d, the Lawyers alleged that \u201cJustices Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, Munkata Coomasie and Sulieman Galadima are personal friends of Governor Okorocha. To deepen our frustration, the conduct of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed at the resumed hearing on June 4, 2013 leaves much to be desired\u201d.<br \/>\nThe petition signed by Bar Chimezie Onwu and Bar (Hon) Adebalogun Sai as National Secretary and National Coordinators of LIDD respectively alleged that \u201cAt that hearing, Justice Mohammed Tanko berated Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN and counsel to one of the respondents, for telling the court that since the case is time-barred, there is need for acceralated hearing\u201d.<br \/>\nThe Group said it was shocked when Justice Tanko Ibrahim said that the case could go on \u201cad infinitum\u201d.
