Honourable Commission for Lands and Urban development in Imo state, Honourable Uche Nwosu has denied any involvement nor rigging in the just concluded Oguta House of Assembly re-run election.
\nSpeaking with Journalists over the weekend, Hon Nwosu said that it is most unfortunate that a distinguished Senator in the person of Chief Hope Uzodinma could be raising such a false alarm.
\nThe Commissioner, who insisted that the election was free and fair, explained \u201cWe had a lot of security operatives including those from Abuja who monitored that election. Therefore, it is not easy for anybody to go to Oguta that day under the circumstance to rig\u201d.
\nNwosu rather accused Senator Uzodinma of acts capable of breaching peace in the area on that Election Day. \u201cI am still not sure that Senator Hope Uzodinma was an election official in that election and even if he was an INEC accredited official, does that guarantee his moving around with a routinee of security men?\u201d
\nContinuing Hon Nwosu explained, \u201cPDP should appreciate that they were loosing with over 2,011 votes. Senator Uzodinma should go back to the drawing board and ask self why he was loosing\u201d.
\nStill on the allegation, Honourable Nwosu queried, \u201cAm I an INEC official to carry INEC papers as alleged by Senator Uzodinma or any of the government officials he accused? Let him provide evidence of his allegations. Chief Hope Uzodinma should go and prepare for 2015 elections rather than beaten about the bush\u201d.
\nOn the involvement of Prof Anwuka (SSG), Hon Nwosu said that Prof Anwuka as an indigene of Oguta could not have left his base to come to Owerri on that day to write results.
\nPointing out that the issue is not that of rigging elections rather, that the masses will vote in those they like as well as vote out those they do not like accordingly.
\nHe also absolved Governor Okorocha of allegation of sharing money on that Election Day. \u201cOwelle believes in the rule of law and therefore can not share money because he believes in performance, integrity and good governance\u201d.
