Tomorrow, Saturday, 20th, August, 2013, indigenes of Owere Nchi Ise will beat the drums of celebration to celebrate this year’s Oru-Owerre festival.
\nThe festival is a yearly ritual Owerri indigenes in the villages celebrate peace, love, harmony and oneness.
\nTomorrow’s event will be marked with a large procession of Age Grades who are expected to march along major roads and streets of Owerri which cut across the five villages in the municipality. Reports available to Trumpeta indicates that the event is usually celebrated amidst pomp and pageantry, as visitors from far and near grace the event which usually holds at Ugwu-Ekwema Civic Centre, along Egbu road, Owerri.
\nSpeaking on this year’s event, a philanthropist and one time PDP Owerri municipal Chairmanship candidate, High Chief Emma J.J Okereke (Igodo) said this years event is unique considering the fact that it is a celebration that will continue to bond Owerri people together in love and harmony.
\n He urged Owerri indigenes to inculcate and assimilate the essence of this year’s festival and remain unite in the pursuit of progress and development of the community.
\nIgodo reminded Owerri Indigenes of the importance of the festival, urging them to continue to embrace peace which he described as a vital instrument to promote the unity of the people of Owerre NchiIse.
