In reaction to the amount of success sports (football) has attracted to the present administration the Imo State football association building is about to receive the ‘Rescue Mission’ attention.

This gesture was made known by His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha to the people that turned out at the chambers of the Multi – purpose building during the reception ceremony for the ‘back – to – back’ Federation Cup Champions, Heartland Football club of Owerri.

In his statement during the event, Governor Okorocha expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the building that houses the department worldly known as the King of Sports.

He promised to ensure that his government will re – constructs the building into a more befitting one.

Over the years, sports journalists in the state and football technocrats have made several calls to the government and to the Board members for a need to give football a well fitting accommodation.

The building which has housed more than five football administrations before the coming in of the incumbent chairman, Chief Amanze Uchegbulam have often suffered serious neglect by both the administrators and the government especially after the last renovation it received by ‘Pepsi’ when it sponsored Nigerian Elite football.

It is therefore now believed that with the promise of Okorocha other good things on football will follow suit.
