It has been jubilation galore for the supporters of Rt Hon Jonas Okeke Onwuegbuchulam of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after he was duely declared the winner of the Okigwe South Federal Constituency Seat election held last Saturday February 25th, 2023.
According to the result which was made available to the public, the former Imo State House of Assembly Speaker and member representing Ihitte/Uboma State Constituency, polled a total of 19,468 votes as against his closet rival and incumbent lawmaker of the area, Hon Chike Okafor of APC who polled 15,920 while the Labour Party candidate, Austine Nwachukwu who got 6,877 votes come distant 3rd.
Rt Hon Jonas Okeke who will be making his first appearance at the Green chamber of the National Assembly by the result has unseated Obowo born two time federal lawmaker, Hon Chike Okafor whose third term bid by the nature of the result was rejected.
