The legal battle between the Imo State Government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Ex – political appointees of the immediate past administration led by Dr Ikedi Ohakim over the withheld/ seized two months salaries and severance allowance/ entitlements, has continued yesterday at the High Court Owerri,
presided over by Hon Justice Nonye Okonkwo. The case has been adjourned to the 1st of November 2012. This followed a motion of stay of proceeding filed by Barr (Mrs) J. C Ibeh led counsel to the State Government purporting that they have gone on Appeal against the ruling of Justice Okonkwo which gave his court jurisdiction on the case sometime in June.
Bar Ken Njemanze (SAN) in his response told the honourable court that he has complied with the decision of the court at the last sitting in June by writing his briefs and served the respondent counsel without them filing their defense in reply of the served briefs. Till date only for him to be served a motion in the morning of the court adjourned date 26th July 2012.
However, Justice Okonkwo, adjourned the proceeding to 1st Nov to urge the filed motion.
