
Except measures are taken to calm the frayed nerves of embittered members of the Imo State House of Assembly who are up in arms against government authorities, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Ben Uwajumogu is facing the wrath of his colleagues over unpaid allowances.
Barely two weeks to the expiration of the present House, members are worried that their unpaid allowances and entitlements may not be realised before the final day of plenary scheduled for early next month.
Trumpeta learnt that fresh crisis of confidence is brewing between the Speaker and his colleagues over unconfirmed report that he gathered the aggrieved members including the Deputy Speaker, Donatus Ozoemena moved to the hospitality industry of one of the outspoken and ranking member of the House, (names withheld) for a meeting.
At the meeting, a member who does not want his name in print disclosed that matters related to the unpaid allowances and welfare of the lawmakers were discussed. The lawmaker further revealed that the indifferent attitude of the Speaker in ensuring that their unpaid entitlements are honoured by the governor reared up as members frowned at the Speaker’s act.
