Workers of the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo are in for the worst moment this festive season as they will likely go home this Christmas cashless. No thanks to the non- payment of five months salaries by the Imo State Government.
Despite the release of Bailout fund and stages of Paris Refund money to the Imo State by the Federal Government, staff of the State owned Polytechnic has not collect five months salaries since this year.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari apart from releasing tranches of Bailout fund and Paris Refund money to assist States clear their financial burden, requested the State Governors to pay all outstanding salaries to workers in their States before Christmas.
But that of workers at Imo Poly is different as government while announcing payments for November and December salaries kept mute over the case of Polytechnic.
The staff were paid last for the month of August 2017 and there are no signs that things could change for a better before government offices are closed for the yuletide season this weekend.
