POWER TUSSLE TEARS OWERRI WEST APC APART -

As the APC LGA congress draws near in the state, there are clear manifestations that all is not well in APC Owerri West local government area as a result of claims and counter claims over who is the LGA Apex leader.

Trumpeta investigations reveal that the awful power tussle between the APC LGA Chairman, Hon Charles Obieze and Hon Barr Ugochi Nnanna Okoro has polarized the area to erode the unity needed for a possible possibility of a team.

Late March this year, Hon Barr Ugochi Nnanna Okoro who is presently the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security had led a delegation of party faithful from the LGA to Government House to demonstrate their support for the endorsement of Chief Uche Nwosu for the state guber seat.

An inside source disclosed that after their comments, the Governor, Owelle Okorocha expressed surprised that some known party stalwarts were not on the delegation especially Hon Charles Obieze, the LGA Party Chairman popularly called “Digital”.

Our source said on enquiry, Hon Ugochi Nnanna Okoro who led the delegation allegedly accused the personalities not on the entourage as ” non conformists ” who have been spoiling to take the LGA party structure to the APGA aspirant in the area, Hon Chief Uche Onyeagocha. She was quoted to have alleged that Hon Obieze often took them to Hon Onyeagocha’s party meetings.

This newspaper learnt that few days later another delegation of APC Owerri West Party members went to Government House Owerri to also show support for the endorsement. This time, Hon Charles Obieze led the likes of Hon Nze Innocent Ekeh Obulimba, a former commissioner, House Member representing the state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Victor Onyewuchi, Barr Jaja Amaobi, Hon BB Ibekwe, Hon Clinton Obiyor and many more. Majority of the delegation had placards and were on uniforms.

Our source said that Okorocha expressed delight on spotting them, by stating that, ”I am convinced that this is the real Owerri West party faithful, I believe you and thank you very much.”

Some party members who spoke on condition of anonymity are expressing fear that the APC ship in Owerri West is sinking gradually in this power tussle is allowed to remain.

Meanwhile, the Ararume APC structure in Owerri west LGA is posing a big threat because of its composition which includes the Nzimakos, the Oyigas, the Amakos and many more.
