The appointment of aides meant to hit the ground running by the Imo State Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha appears not to be favouring the women folk.
Trumpeta investigation reveals that apart from the few of the committees where there are names of women as members, gender sensitivity is missing in appointment of major principal aides since he took over on May 29th, 2019.
The first major appointments Ihedioha made have witnessed a male dominated list without a woman. It would be recalled that immediately after he was sworn in, the initial appointments were for Chief Press Secretary, Special Adviser, Media before that of Secretary to the state government and Chief of Staff.
Similarly, the two commissioner nominees are also men in the person of the new Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ndukwe Nnawuchi and Okey Mgbenwelu.
In the appointment made so far, the governor graciously touched all zones in the state. From the names Owerri zone has SSG while Okigwe and Orlu zones have Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff respectively.
Also his protocol officer Chinemerem Enweremadu the Chief Technical Adviser while the Chief Security Adviser, Raymond Nkemdirim is a non indigene from nearby Abia State. For the new Commissioners, Nnawuchi is of Owerri Municipal while Mgbenwelu is of Oru West.
Trumpeta can vividly state that unlike what transpired in the past where the immediate past administration skewed appointments to a particular area leading to the “familiocracy” acronym, Ihedioha is spreading his appointments to all corners.
