The Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has constituted a high calibre Planning Committee to execute the 2019 Ahiajioku lecture.
The committee is headed by a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, who throughout his four years in office made the Ahiajioku lecture series an annual intellectual harvest.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Imo State, Chibuike Onyeukwu, the Director of Ahiajioku Centre, Dr Amanze Obi will serve as the Secretary of the Planning Committee.
Members are Bar Chijioke Nzekwe (Imo Commissioner for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture) Hon Bar (Mrs) Nkeiru Ibekwe (Commissioner for Gender and Vulnerable Group) Prof UA Awuzie, Prof Aloy Ejiogu, Prof Uzodinma Nwala, Rev Fr Prof Ogbonna, Nze Ray Emeana, Chief Joe Ehioma, Donald Ekenta and Chief Mrs Stella Okoli (Emzor)
Others are Dame Nkem Opara, HRH Eze Dan Emereonye, HRH Eze Ben Igwilo, HRH Eze Geofrey Okoro, Dr Dubem Onyia (Enugu State) Bar Chibuike Nwokeukwu (Abia State) Senator Ben Obi (Anambra State) Emma Okocha (Delta State) Uche Anyanwu as Assistant Secretary.
Ahiajioku Lecture had remained an intellectual lecture based on Igbo culture and tradition. It was an annual lecture in Imo State since the creation of the State, but was stopped in the eight years regime of Owelle Rochas Okorocha as Governor of Imo State.
However, the current Emeka Ihedioha regime has resuscitated the lecture to the applause of Igbos.
