The people of Okigwe are yet to recover from the rude shock of the gruesome murder of notable philanthropist and business man, Mr. Peter Ibecherem by unknown gun men.
The incident which has created so much tension was gathered, happened on Tuesday night.
His death, has drawn sympathy and criticism as youths had already, taken to the streets to protest the way he was killed, while social media has been agog with friends and relatives, calling security agencies to do the needful in bringing his killers to book.
The deceased who was popularly called “Mr Specie”, was a well known philanthropist in the area.
The Police spokesman, SP Orlando Ikeokwu has confirmed the incident, assuring that investigations are already on top gear.
In a related development, a woman known as Mrs Susanna Iwuoha from Umuchiaku Village in Lowa autonomous community in Ihitte Uboma has been strangled to death.
Investigation revealed that, the deceased who had earlier gone to weed her farm with her daughter on Tuesday, had requested to go again to harvest cassava later same day.
It was gathered that, the daughter who complained of being tired, pleaded with the late Mrs Susanna to do other chores at home.
Problem started when the deceased was yet to return. Out of curiosity, the daughter and the elder went in search of her at the farm, there her lifeless body was discovered, from possible strangulation.
The ruler of the community, Aku1 of Umuchiaku Lowa Autonomous Community, Eze Dr. George Etugo who was contacted, informed that matter has been transferred to the police for investigations.
Circumstances surrounding her death has created so much fear and panic in the community, since her lifeless body was discovered in the farm.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer was unable to confirm the incident as at press time.
