Hotel owners in Imo State are lamenting government demand for the payment of N180,000 for fumigation and sanitation levy.
Trumpeta gathered from some of the hoteliers in Owerri that heavy taxes are being imposed on them by the Imo State Government through several agencies.
The N180,000 levy which is for N150,000 fumigation and N30,000 levy is handled by ENTRACO through a company known as Femieral Resources Ltd.
According to the hoteliers, they were asked to pay into the account of the private firm and not government purse under the TSA program of the Imo State Government.
Majority of the hoteliers decried the tax adding that it was coming at the wrong time when business is at the lowest ebb occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Efforts to reach ENTRACO management proved abortive as he refused to pick his calls.
