As part of initiatives to implement the policy direction of the Imo State Government to position the state on the global state, the Honourable Commissioner for Foreign/International Affairs, Amb. Fabian Ihekweme PhD earlier today, August 12, 2020 met with the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria at the High Commission in Abuja.
The delegation comprised of the Chief Technical Assistant in the Ministry, Pst. Iyke Onuoha, the Special Assistant on Business Development Strategy, Hon. Ralph Osueke.
Also part of the delegation was the National President of Nigeria-Indian Alumni Association, Robin Njoku.
Discussion Points/Resolutions: The establishment of Indian Consular Office and Cultural Center in Owerri to serve the South East and South South Geopolitical Zones.
Establishment of a Science and Technology Hub with an objective to promote local capacity in ICT, business innovation and incubators.
Partnership to establish specialist hospitals and pharmaceutical industries in Imo State.
Energy sector investments with focus on renewable and solar as alternative sources of energy. Participation of Indian firms in Imo agricultural sector through mechanized agriculture with social objectives for food security, employment creation and wealth generation.
In the weeks ahead, the High Commissioner alongside a team of major Indian investors are scheduled to visit the State to meet with His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State and members of the Imo business community.
This is a call to Imo people to gear up in preparedness for the inflow of foreign direct investments with the attendant multiplier effects of employment, wealth and lasting prosperity.
