Against expectations after threats of regaining the LGAs in Imo State, chairmen and councilors elected during the tenure of Owelle Rochas Okorocha made a volte face on Monday.
The sacked chairmen had a fortnight ago issued threats of regaining LGAs in Imo State on the basis that they have court judgment empowering them to do so.
Trumpeta recalls that the chairmen who were elected in 2018 were sacked in 2019 during when Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha came in. The present regime under Uzodinma also kept them off until they got court judgment.
Despite the stay of execution appeal, the Chairmen and councilors are bent on returning which they fixed for Monday, November 30th 2020.
Trumpeta can inform that the planned action could not take place as they have made a U turn and retraced steps.
It was authoritatively learnt that the action was shelved because their desires to work for the candidacy of the APC candidate for Okigwe, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. Further details have it that in order not to jeopardize the chances of Araraume ahead this weekend bye election for Imo North Senatorial Zone, the Chairmen relaxed to give him necessary support and assistance.
Another factor that may have also stopped the Chairmen and Councilors from resuming was a court order from Owerri High Court which ruled that they have no locus to be in the councils in the basis that their election was faulty as it was done under Autonomous Communities basis and not electoral wards. The Chairmen were asked to pay back whatever they earned as LGA officials.
