Civil servants in Imo State are expected to be in cheerful mood this Christmas if what the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma said yesterday on the floor of the House of Assembly, while presenting 2021 Budget to the lawmakers, is anything to be serious.
The civil servants have been in bad mood over slashed and unpaid salaries. The labour unions at a time informed of decision to embark on Industrial action over Uzodinma’s non- payment of the new minimum wage.
Trumpeta observed at the Imo Assembly that workers went into frenzy mood when Uzodinma announced that the 2021 budget is okay to cater for the minimum wage.
However, the governor put a caveat that his administration would not tolerate any attempt by any worker or syndicate within the system defraud the state government through padding of salaries and double receipt of payments.
Uzodinma added that his administration meant well for the workers in the state.
The Governor said that in tandem to the budget caption, “Budget of wealth creation”, he is more poised in creating more opportunities and wealth to Imo indigenes.
He stated that both salaries and pensions is well taken care of in the presented 2021 budget, and have no reason not to work according to the provisions of the budget.
“Our budget of wealth creation is carefully designed to positively impact on the life of every Imo indigene and resident. Being the first budget of this administration, it comes with a clear road map for shared prosperity” Governor Uzodinma said.
