The Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, is about to witness more disturbing times as leaders of the party battle to take control of ward and LGA offices.
Recall that after the revalidation of membership exercise, the party is about to undertake congresses beginning from the ward, the LGA and State levels.
Investigations by Trumpeta have it that at the moment, the leaders are at each others throat in the supremacy battle for who gets what.
It was further gathered that in every ward in the state, there are fierce battles by their apex leaders to have control of structures and who produces the ward excos. Same can also be said at ward levels where a rat-race among the leaders has ensued.
A source at the party office on Okigwe road told Trumpeta that there may not be open contest for the ward offices adding that the leaders in each ward would produce names. The source said that at the moment, there is fierce battle concerning which of the list by each of the leaders should be accepted.
This newspaper further gathered that some particular powerful forces in Government House, Owerri, believed to be loyalists of Governor Hope Uzodinma are pulling the strings from the underground.
The source was of the view that to avoid other elements not in partnership with the 3R government get slots and have chance to produce Excos, forces in the seat of power are incharge of producing the list of the new exco to be adopted during the congress.
This particular step which has allowed the few in Govt House take charge is also said to be causing problem within the political family of Governor Uzodinma as some of those responsible of gathering the names and list are indirectly working against those they feel are political opponents within the CampHope political structure.
Instead of embarking on proper consultation and reach out to all major stakeholders and key players in the governors camp, Trumpeta was told that those incharge handled the compilation alone which saw them not to consider interest of the party leaders from where they come from.
Based on this development, Imo APC is sitting on keg of gun power wanting to explode ahead of the congress.
